Mrs. Harold Zwiebel and daughters, Mr. & Mrs. John Gardner, Mr. & Mrs. Lester Zwiebel, Mrs. Ethel Carlsen, Mr. & Mrs. James Witte Douglas County Gazette October 1965 Harold Veron Zwiebel Harold Vernon Zwiebel, 43 of Yutan passed away, Oct 29, 1965 in an Omaha hospital after a lingering illness. He was born August 24, 1922 at Waterloo. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Zwiebel preceded him in death, also an infant sister. Harold attended grade school at School District No. 24 and graduated from Valley High School in 1939. In 1946 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Swanson of Cook Nebr. They lived in the Syracuse vicinity about five years, and then moved to Yutan in 1951. He worked as a mechanic for his brother Lester for eight years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Yutan and was serving on the church board at the time of his death. He had served as a member of the School Board and the Yutan volunteer Fire Department. He was the Saunder County chairman of the Crippled Children Society. Survivors include his wife Dorothy; three daughters, Marilyn, Diane, and Jackie, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. John (Mildred) Gardner, Mrs. Ethel Carlsen, both of Omaha, Mrs. James (Lois) Witte of Millard, and one brother Lester of Yutan. Rev. W. C. Runden officiated at the funeral services held Sunday Oct. 31st at 2 p.m. from the United Church of Christ in Yutan. Mrs. Ernest James and Mrs. Harvey Mumm sang Ivory Palaces and rock of Ages with Miss Marian Hirsch at the organ. Pallbearers were Leslie Berner, Donald Kemper, John Lamprecht Jr. Norman Peters, Harvey Sudman and Louis Witte. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Elkhorn.
