The sad news came as a shock to Mrs. Brown who did not know her brother was sick. Later particulars stated that Mr. Loomis had taken a severe cold which developed into pneumonia. His illness only lasted five or six days. He received every possible care and attention that could be given in the way of medical services and nurses, but his life could not be saved. He died on the morning of December 12, 1906. The body was shipped from Grangeville last Thursday and arrived here Tuesday afternoon. Harris E. Loomis was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Loomis, of Delaware township. He was born Sept. 3, 1855 in Greene Co., Wis., and removed to Sac county with his parents when a boy. He grew to manhood at the family home in Delaware township. He was well and favorably known in this vicinity. He lived a quiet, unassuming life, and was esteemed by all who knew him. He was steady and industrious, and I had accumulated considerable property. He went to Grangeville, Idaho, about five years ago. He joined the Odd Fellows lodge at this place and later transferred his membership to Grangeville. He was also a member of Rex Lodge No. 242, Knights of Pythias, of this place. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the J.C. Brown home conducted by Rev. F.H. Anderson, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge, after which the remains were laid to rest in Newell cemetery. The deceased leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother, four sisters and two brothers. His sisters are Mrs. J.C. Brown, of Newell; Mrs. Frank Trickle, of Nemaha; Mrs. Van Cresap, of Montgomery, Minn.; and Mrs. John Jackson, of Truesdale. His brothers are Charles and John Loomis, who reside on the old homestead near Nemaha. - Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Loomis received a telegram last Wednesday stating that their son Harry Loomis, at Grangeville, Idaho, was dead. On Thursday they received another telegram stating that his body was shipped that day over the Northwestern. He was a member of Newell lodge, I.O.O.F. and was well known and liked all over this part of the country. He died of pneumonia. He will be buried in Newell cemetery and the Odd Fellows will have charge of the services. The bereaved parents and brothers and sisters and other relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
