Description	:	Lucinda was the daughter of Benjamin Loomis and Esther VanHorn. She married Sylvester Ellis on 15 Oct 1871 in Jordon, Green Co., WI. They were the parents of Orville, Esther, Loren, Jane, and Effie. Read More	Lucinda was the daughter of Benjamin Loomis and Esther VanHorn. She married Sylvester Ellis on 15 Oct 1871 in Jordon, Green Co., WI. They were the parents of Orville, Esther, Loren, Jane, and Effie. June 7, 1901 - The Newell Mirror - Monday afternoon the town was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Sylvester Ellis of apoplexy. Mrs. Ellis had been in her usual good health up to within half an hour of her death. After eating dinner she complained of a headache and laid down. At 2:30 her daughter heard her exclaim "Oh, my head" and on rushing into the room, found her in a semi-conscious condition. Help was summoned at once, but she never regained consciousness, sinking rapidly until the end, which came about five minutes before three. Mr. Ellis and his family are newcomers to our town, having removed here from Newell, Iowa, this spring. Two sons and other relatives still remain at Newell, and were telegraphed to at once, arriving on Tuesday evening's train. The funeral was held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the M.E. church, of which denomination deceased was a member. Lucinda Loomis was born Sept. 15, 1854. She was married to Sylvester Ellis Oct. 27, 1871, at Jordon, Wis. She leaves her husband and six children Mrs. C.C. Keeny, Orville, Esther, Loren, Jay and Elfie Ellis. Two sons, Orville and Loren were at Newell, Iowa, at the time of her health and arrived Tuesday evening. Thus is a family suddenly bereft of the priceless love and counsel and companionship of a faithful wife and mother. It is often hard to understand the ways of Providence but there is One who knoweth better than we.
