Leinhart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Leinhart of Germantown, this county, and Harry B. Kanode of Middlebrooke, were married at 6 o'clock last evening in Epworth Methodist Church, Gaithersburg, by Rev. W.L. Smith, pastor of the Southern Methodist Church, at Potomac, assisted by Rev. J.I. Winger, pastor of Epworth Methodist Church. The ceremony was witnessed by a very large gathering. The bride was attended by Miss Mary Dawson of Germantown, maid of honor, and Keifer Leinhart, brother of the bride, was best man. Clay Plummer and Forest Walker, both of Gaithersburg, were the ushers. Following a reception at the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Kanode, the young couple left for a bridal trip. --- Obituary - The Frederick Post (Frederick, Maryland), February 17, 1971: Harry B. Kanode, Retired Adamstown Farmer, Dies Harry B. Kanode, husband of Essie Mae Kanode, a well know retired farmer of Frederick County, died Tuesday morning at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Mr. Kanode resided in Adamstown. He was born in Frederick County on Feb. 18, 1886, the sone of the late Robert E. and Florence C. Kanode. In 1900 he moved with his parents to Montgomery County, residing there until the late 1930's. Returning to Frederick County, he owned and operated Rosedale Farm until his retirement in 1965. Long active in dairy farming, he was the first president of the Capitol Milk Producers Association and served for nineteen years. He was also president of the Frederick County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee for a number of years. He served for many years with the Frederick County Farm Bureau and was a past Master of the Carroll Manor Grange. He was a charter member of the Carroll Manor Lions club and was a member of the Carroll Manor Fire Company. Mr. Kanode was also active on the election board for his precinct, always ready and willing to help with charity drives. He was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, the last 37 years as an active member and lay leader at Forest Grove Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Cecil Plummer of Gaithersburg, and Mrs. Margaret Sugrue of Chevy Chase; and one son, Harvey Newton Kanode of Adamstown. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Grace Mullican, Falls Church, Virginia; and Mrs. Mildred Perkins of Silver Springs; and one brother, Robert Erroll Kanode of Baltimore. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at the M. R. Etchison and Son Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street today and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wesley G. Scouten officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gloyd E. Allis. Interment will be in Forest Oak Cemetery in Gaithersburg.
