Married twice according to his Fairfield Ledger story about his death - however, neither wife was named nor when the marriages took place. The Ledger story noted that both of these wives were deceased already. The Jefferson county death record noted that he was "widowed". Harry died as a result of injuries during an attempted robbery on him at his home in Fairfield, Iowa. There were substantial stories published in the Fairfield newspapers at the time about the beating, death, and subsequent legal proceedings. Only a brief mention about his parents names and that he had been married twice were found in the initial stories about him. Otherwise, the material is too graphic to transcribe. It should be noted that this contributor worked with one of the assailants years later in a factory in Fairfield, where that assailant was given employment after serving prison time. As of January 2015 that one assailant is still living in Fairfield. This contributor hadn't realized until photographing the McIntire headstones at Evergreen cemetery and finding the story about the beating and death of Harry McIntire that Harry was the victim.
