Shaw, one of 9 children, born to Ben and Virginia Lee Moon Shaw, at Moorfield (sic), Nebraska, on July 6, 1890, and passed away January 12, 1979, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 6 days. As a boy, Harry, was baptized in the Little Blue River, north of Nelson. At the time of his death he had been a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where he served his Lord for many years in the choir, serving as Sunday School superintendant, and on the church board. Harry was also a member of the Nelson Masonic Lodge No. 77 A.F. & A.M. On January 4, 1911, Harry was united in marriage to Lora Elizabeth Harris, at Nelson, where he then lived the remainder of his life. To this union 8 children were born. Harry was a wonderful and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Wray, and one brother, Bert. Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Betha of Nelson, four sons, Rodber of Superior, Nebraska, Myrl of Orange, California, Harry of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and Ben of Lincoln, Nebraska, three daughters, Mrs. (Elizabeth) Ralph Meyer of Nelson, Mrs. (Virginia) Lester Schleufer of Superior, Nebraska, and Mrs. (Bertha Mae) Edwin Schultz of Ruskin, Nebraska, four brothers, Philip of Omaha, Nebraska, Lee of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Art of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and Harold of Eldora, Iowa, three sisters, Mrs. (Maude) Everette Miracle, of Deer River, Minnesota, Mrs. Lillian Baker of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Miss Helen Shaw of Fort Dodge, Iowa, 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, January 15, 1979, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson United Methodist Church. Rev. Clair Kess officiated. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Lendall L. Meyer, Cecil R. Shaw, Irvin L. Schleufer, Michael Shaw, Larry J. Schultz and Dearld (sic) L. Shaw. Thank You... Dear friends and neighbors, we, the family of Harry Shaw, deeply appreciate the sympathy, kindness and support you have given from your hearts. Thank you for these kindnesses and for the love you showed Papa while he was battling the cancer. Our friends at the Good Samaritan Center, we continually marvel at, and thank God for, the skill and the love with which those skills were given to care for Papa and to ease the pain in the last weeks. Thank you. Papa did not fear death, for he was ready. He trusted Jesus Christ as his Saviour and, as he told us, "I know I am going to a better place and I am ready."
