Jones, Montclair, Calif; and a sister, Mrs. Irma Meyer, Hiawatha. Burial will be in Hiawatha Cemetery. Jones, 59, Hiawatha farmer, died Friday night, Jan 28, 1977, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital after being striken at his home with a heart attack. Born near Hiawatha July 3, 1917, the son of Harry U. Jones, Sr., and Eva Hall Jones, he had lived all of his life in this community, 57 years on the same farm. A member of the First United Methodist Church and of the Homer White Post 66, Hiawatha American Legion, he was a veteran of six and one-half years in the Army Air Corps. He was married to Margaret Lentz in Horton on Feb 1, 1942. She survives at the home. Additional survivors include one brother, Jesse L. Jones of Montclair, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Lynn (Irma) Meyer of Hiawatha. Funeral services were held from the Meek Mortuary Chapel at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Jan 31, with Rev. Paul Mitchell officiating. John Howard sang "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Mrs. R. S. Casselman, organist. Paulbearers were all great-nephews of the deceased, Russell Meyer, Roger Meyer, Mike Powell, David Powell, Steven Jones, and Frank Oldweiler. Interment was at the Hiawatha Cemetery where flag folding ceremonies were conducted as a courtesy of Homer White Post 66." Harry had a daughter, Emily Louise, from his marriage to Frances Louise Dowell.
