Obituary Harvey Johann Ludwig Stier (1903 - 1966 Funeral services for Harvey Stier were held Thursday, November 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. F. A. Wiese officiating. Harvey Johann Ludwig Stier, son of Adolph Stier and Maria Johannsen was born in Soldier Township on January 24, 1903. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township. He was married to Viola Cowan on February 2, 1926 by Pastor Frese at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. After their marriage, the couple farmed until 1949, when they moved to Schleswig and Harvey was employed by the county. With failing health, Harvey, two months ago gave up his working for the county. He died unexpectely at his home on Monday morning, November 14, (1966) He is survived by his wife, Viola, two daughters, Deloris, wife of Charles Ellsworth of Sioux City and Marjorie, wife of Orville DeJong of Sioux City. He is also survived by two brothers, Herbert of Battle Creek and Alvin of Schleswig, four sisters Ella, wife of Barney Neubaum from Manning, Irma, wife of Ray Kruse of Schleswig and Carmen wife of Earl Keim of Charter Oak and Mildred, wife of Leonard Marquardt of Colorado Springs, Colorado and four grandchildren, Linda Ellsworth, Debra Douglas and Steven DeJong. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He attained the age of 63 years, 9 months, and 13 days. Pallbearers were Herman Neubauer, Wayne Kuehl, Ross Jensen, Robert Johannsen, Orville Johannsen and Allen Johannsen. Interment was made in the Morgan Cemetery, Schleswig.
