Read More	Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, October 5, l90l HARVEY ROY BRAZELTON was born in Decatur County, Iowa, April 5th, l884, and died at his home in Decatur City, Iowa, Oct. 5th, l90l, age l7 years, 4 months, and 20 days. He leaves father and mother and two sisters to mourn his early departure. A noble young life has gone out from us. Once again cruel death has passed by the rank needs uselessly cumbering the earth to claim for his own the fairest and sweetest flowers in all the garden -- to crush in his mysterious grasp the delicate petals of a pure and noble young life. Rich and poor, high and low, old and young, alike pay tribute to that "Great leveler of all", Death. In his embrace, there is no distinction, of the justice we may not judge. ROY was an obedient son being endowed with mental gifts of lofty purity and unyielding sincerity, and an intense desire for the good and true in all things dominated his whole life and character. In no way was this more clearly shown than in his devotion to his two sisters being especially kind and affectionate to his little sister LOLA. At school he was studious, earnest and obedient, and was highly esteemed by both teachers and pupils. His schoolmates looked upon him with great admiration, recognizing in him a faithful and true friend, their love for him was envinced by the deep interest they manifested in him during his short illness and the grief they felt at his early death, and the sad respects paid him at his funeral where his vacant chair touchingly decorated by them with flowers, occupied so prominent a place. His schoolmates and teachers marched in a body to the cemetery sorrowfully conducting him to his long, last resting place. At school he will be missed but not forgotten. Many a kind word or noble deed will recall that kind face of him who for years has occupied a modest desk which is now decked in deep mourning. Others will take his place, but he will forever have a place in the hearts of those who knew him. The funeral took place in the M.E. Church in Decatur at 3 o'clock p.m., October 6th, l90l, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. W.E. Harvey. The text for the discourse was from II Cor. 5:l. The attendance was one of the largest ever seen at a funeral in Decatur bespeaking the high esteem of a large circle of friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Decatur Cemetery there in angel guarded sleep, to await the resurrection morn and the call to unite the innumerable multitude that shall be summoned to come up higher. --E.P.
