Description	:	Married 26 October 1915 ----- Hazel Josephine Statz, one of six children of Moses Austin Adamson and Emma Floretta Roberts, was born on a farm near Nelson on June 20, 1894. Hazel passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson on January 26, 1983, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 6 days. She was a life-long residents (sic) of the Nelson community. Read More	Married 26 October 1915 ----- Hazel Josephine Statz, one of six children of Moses Austin Adamson and Emma Floretta Roberts, was born on a farm near Nelson on June 20, 1894. Hazel passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson on January 26, 1983, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 6 days. She was a life-long residents (sic) of the Nelson community. She grew up and was educated in Nuckolls County, graduating from the Nelson High School with the class of 1912. Following graduation from high school and until her marriage, she taught in rural schools of Nuckolls County. December 26, 1915, Hazel was married to William T. Statz at Nelson. Seven children were born to this marriage. Her husband, William, died on July 26, 1938, by a lightning storm accident on the family farm, leaving Hazel with the task of raising her children. Hazel being of strong will and Christian faith was able to see her children and grandchildren grow and prosper through the years. Evidence of her strong faith was shown as a dedicated church worker and a member of the First Christian Church of Nelson for 75 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William T.; one son, Vendell; four brothers, Whitfield and Glen Adamson and two infant brothers; two sister (sic), Mrs. Robert (Libbie) Morrow and an infant sister. She will be missed by many and remembered for her many gestures of kindness to others, her love for her flowers and vegetable gardens, her sewing and canning from her garden. Hazel was the recipient of a certificate from President Franklin D. Roosevelt for her participation in the Victory Garden Program during World War II. She will be more especially missed by her children: Doris and her husband, Wilbur Hattan of Omaha; Raymund Statz and his wife, Blanche of Nelson; Elizabeth and her husband, Harlan Woodside of Cozad; Irene and her husband, Kay Hafen of Litchfield Park, Arizona; Helen and her husband, Irvin Sloan of Bloomfield, Iowa; and William Statz and his wife, Evelyn of Good Creek, South Carolina; twenty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and her only living brother, McKinley Adamson of Nelson, with whom she spent many hours in her later years. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 29, from the Nelson First Christian Church, with Rev. Richard Markland and Rev. Richard Cayton officiating. Myrtle Worley, organist, accompanied soloist, Joe Ferebee, as he sang "Hand in Hand With Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers were Walster Williams, Bill Morehead, Gary Tordrup, Lynn Thayer, Roger Williams and Michael Thayer. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
