Read More	Obituary from The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, April 19, 1990; pg. 10: Raymund Earl Statz, one of seven children of William Theodore Statz and Hazel Josephine (Adamson) Statz, was born on April 30, 1921, on a farm near Nelson. Raymund passed away after a short illness on April 6, 1990, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 6 days. He grew up and was raised on the family farm, was educated at the Pleasant View rural school and graduated from Nelson High School. On August 24, 1947, he married Annie Blanche Farrand in Superior. To this union three children, Paul, Bette and Pamela, were born. Raymund's whole life was his farming and his family. He was a very good neighbor, always ready to help in a crisis or as an extra at harvest time. He enjoyed nature, and animals, especially his horses. He broke horses so he would have a horse to use with his cattle. He and Blanche moved to Nelson upon retirement in 1975. Besides his farming he helped with the building of his home in Nelson. He enjoyed his carpentry and mechanical work, and was proud of his yard and garden and enjoyed working them. He was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother, Wendell. Survivors are his wife, Blanche of Nelson; one son, Paul D. Statz and his wife Mary of Nelson; two daughters, Bette J. Wood and her husband Dan of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Pamela S. Musil and her husband David of Grand Island; seven grandchildren, Stephan, Quentin and Nikolaus Statz, Makenzie Greif, Travis, Sean and Tess Musil; three step-granddaughters, Amy, Julie and Staci Wood; one brother, William L. Statz of Goose Creek, South Carolina; four sisters, Doris Hattan and her husband Wilbur of Omaha, Elizabeth Woodside and her husband Harlan of Cozad, Irene Hafen and her husband Kay of Munds Park, Arizona, and Helen Sloan and her husband Irvin of Bloomfield, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Zoe Farrand of Superior; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by soloist Ruth Watts singing selections of "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" with Myrtle Worley as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Joe Ferebee, Ed Sekora, Earl Adamson, Dale Adamson, Elmer Giger and Cleo Doggett. Honorary pallbearers were Byron Gass, Wayne McClure, Jack Wehrman, Walt Williams, Chuck Marshall, Garth Melvin and Bill Morehead. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
