Edmiston, Lawrence physician, died Saturday afternoon at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of a heart ailment. She had entered the hospital 3 weeks ago last Wednesday and had been in an oxygen tent the entire time. The Edmiston residence is at 801 Arkansas street. Mrs. Edmiston was born in Nortonville, the daughter of William Byron and Amy Loretta Maggs. She took nurse training, graduating from the University of Michigan in 1917. Almost immediately she entered service in World War I. She went overseas as a Red Cross nurse and soon transferred to an army field hospital in France. In 1920 she came to Lawrence to be with relatives and did private duty nursing. Dr. and Mrs. Edmiston were married on June 30, 1920. Mrs. Edmiston was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and active in its work, and in the Douglas County Medical Auxiliary. Surviving besides the husband are two daughters, Mrs. George (Amy Jean) Wills, Wichita, and Mrs. Richard R. (Doris) Potter, Dahlgren, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Miller, Chase, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Tuesday at 2 p.m., with the pastor, the Rev. Theodore H. Aszman, in charge. Friends may call at the Rumsey chapel until noon tomorrow. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. VPB Note: This obituary clipping for Hazel May Edmiston probably appeared in the Lawrence Daily Journal-World in Lawrence, Kansas. There is a news clipping from that paper dated May 8, 1952, regarding her husband's 33 years of service in Lawrence. It is shown in the Find A Grave Memorial for Dr. Roy Hammond Edmiston.
