Helen was united in marriage to Fred Johnson on April 20, 1941. They resided in Atchison. She attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy, and worked in Atchison at Meyer's Grocery. She was also Atchison County Registrar of Deeds. Helen moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 1996 to be close to her son, Carl and moved to Jackson, MS in 2009 to live with her daughter, Cindy. Helen was an avid gardener, and while in Atchison was active in the Atchison Garden Club, Jackson Park Projects, and the Friendship Forest. She was a life member in Order of Eastern Star. Helen was a dedicated mother, and special grandmother. She instilled an honest work ethic and a love for the outdoors to her children. She loved to go fishing, work in the garden, flower or vegetable. She was always there for her children and will be greatly missed. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Johnson, sister Elizabeth McLain, brother Ben Huey, and an infant son, James. She is survived by three children, Cindy Pannier and Jack, Jackson, MS, Carl Johnson and Virginia, Colorado Springs, CO, and Sarah DeWitt and James, Madison, and three grandchildren, Marc Pannier, Derek Pannier, and Blaine Johnson.
