Read More	Glasco Sun, December 25, 1941, page 3: Henry John Romeiser, son of Barnhardt and Margaret Zahn Romeiser, was born September 8, 1868, at Rochester, New York, and departed from this life December 16, 1941, age 73 years, 3 months and 8 days. He was deprived of his mother at the age of ten, and from that time made his own way in this world. He was baptized in early infancy and confirmed into the Lutheran Church at Rochester, New York. He came to Kansas in June, 1886, and the remainder of his life was spent at Glasco, Kansas, with the exception of six years when he resided near Edmond, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Caroline Studt on February 27, 1893, and to this union five girls and four boys were born. They are:Mrs. Edward Berndt, Mrs. Albert Grittman, Mrs. Edmund Horn, and Carol Romeiser of Glasco; and Mrs. J.N. Gottfriedt of Lindsborg; Arnold Romeiser of Simpson, Lawrence Romeiser of Hill City; Clarence Romeiser of Salina, and Marion Romeiser of Glasco. This family circle has been broken for the first time with the passing of the father. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, his sisters Margaret Dehmler, and Rosa Nussbaumer and three brothers, Conrad, Peter and Bernhardt Romeiser of New York State. He was always active in church work, served on the Church Council, taught a Sunday School class and was a member of the Church choir a number of years. His family and neighbors will always remember him as a kind and considerate father and friend. No task was too great for him to undertake, if it meant happiness for others. He was a lover of the better things of life -- his church work, good music, good books. His regular attendance at church has been an inspiration to all who knew him -- every Sunday found him in his accustomed place in church until prevented by his illness the past two years, but even then he was ever willing and wanted to be of service to all.
