Sept. 27, 1861 and passed from this life March 17, 1926. Age 64 years, 5 months, 20 days. At the age of six years her mother died and for several years she was lovingly cared for by an aunt. In 1873 Mr. Wilson and his daughter came to Kansas and located in Leavenworth county. Mr. Wilson married again and in 1877 they came to Cloud county and settled on the Wilson Homestead five miles north east of Glasco. It was in the year 1877 that Miss Hester became acquainted with Mr. George Colwell and they were united in marriage September 17, 1877 and began their new home life on the Colwell homestead 4 miles east of Glasco. This happy union was blessed by the birth of one daughter and one son, Mrs. Ella Martin of Glasco and Mr. Frank J. Colwell of Glasco. It was the loving care of these children that brought much peace and joy to their mother's life and especially in her last sickness, they were both at her side when final summons came. Though Mrs. Colwell was very young when she helped to establish a home, she was a good home maker with fine influences. The early days of pioneering had many hardships to overcome but by true courage and persistent toil Mr. and Mrs. Colwell became prosperous and in 1900 they moved from their well improved homestead to the nice cottage home in Glasco and lived the remainder of their years. Mr. Colwell passed away five years ago. In Mrs. Colwell's early childhood she was taught the quaker faith and lived a devoted christian life. In 1893 she with her husband united with the Christian Church of Glasco to which she has always been loyal, her good cheer and kind words have been a source of help to those with whom she worked. The advancement of her master's cause was her high purpose in life. She is survived by her two children, six grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter. Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson, one sister, Mrs. Ella Young of Clyde, one half sister, Mrs. Mary Lang of Ames, Kansas. One half brother Mr. Cris Wilson of Glasco. Another half sister, Mrs. Ida Clark was called from this life several years ago. Besides these she leaves many other relatives and friends.
