Read More	Hugh Morgan, 72, Carroll Resident 60 Years, Is Dead Funeral Services To Be Held At St. Joseph Church Tuesday Hugh Bernard Morgan, 72 years old, a Carroll county resident for 60 years, passed away at his home at 213 North Adams Street this morning at 4:55 o'clock of a heart attack. He had enjoyed good health until last fall, when he complained of rheumatism. Although able to be up and around until about the last week, he had been gradually failing in health since Fall. He became seriously ill the last day or two and the sudden heart attack early this morning proved fatal. He was conscious until the very last. The body is at the Gregory Funeral Home and will be taken to the Morgan home tomorrow morning about 9 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph church. The Very Rev. Father P.T. Lynch will read the requiem mass. Interment will be in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery. Born In Iowa Hugh Morgan was born February 19, 1863 at Cascade, Dubuque County, Iowa, the child of the late Patrick and Mary Morgan. He had five brothers and two sister, all born on the same farm in Dubuque County. The family moved to Carroll County in the Spring of 1875, one of the first families to till the soil in this part of the state. The bought some land west of town and did all their own improving. He lived with his parents on the Morgan homestead and attended the rural school, where he obtained his education. On April 30, 1907, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Collison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Collison, at St. Joseph Church in Carroll. The Rev. P.F. Farley performed the nuptial ceremony. The young couple continued to farm for 10 years and on Feb. 3, 1917 came to Carroll and moved into the Morgan home on North Adams Street. Mrs. Morgan died on March 8, 1924 and soon after his sister, Miss Ella, came from the home farm to keep house for her brother. She has since made her home in town. A few years later his brother, Charles, came to make his home with Hugh and Ella. Served On Council Mr. Morgan, while living in Maple River township, was for a time road superintendent of that township. He also served on the Carroll city council for three terms. He was a devout member of St. Joseph Church and also of the Holy Name society. He took an active interest in all church work, and took up weekly collection on Sundays for several years. His mother, who died in 1915 and his father, who passed away in 1891, as well as the following brothers and sisters, preceded him in death: Dan, John, Pat, James and Mary. Surviving are his sister, Ella, and brother Charles, who have made their homes with him for many years. *Carroll Daily Herald, Saturday, May 4, 1935.
