Read More	Grandmother Morgan Called To Her Reward Pioneer Lady Passes Away at Age of Ninety - Buried From St. Joseph's Friday, March 25. Mrs. Patrick Morgan died at her home west of the city Monday, March 22, 1915, at the age of ninety years, seven months and seven days. The funeral took place at St. Joseph's church at 10 o'clock Friday forenoon. The married ladies Sodality of which she had long been a member attended in a body. The church was filled with friends who had known the departed and respected her for her conscientious Christian life and her uniform kindness. She was recognized as one seeking to live according to the Golden Rule. Father M. Wendl, assistant at St. Joseph's church, read solemn high mass. Very Rev. T. J. McCarty delivered a powerful sermon on the Christian life and death as exemplified In the one whose lips are now closed in eternal silence. He recalled her desire to receive the sacraments and the pleasure to visit her and how she retained all her mental faculties and lived far beyond the allotted time of three score and ten years. She ever lived in preparation for the Lord's call. He dwelt long on the character of her Christian life as one who practiced in unlimited measure her duty to her church and sacraments. What an example is such a life, every act breathes forth her desire to so pass this mortal life that she may hear the consoling words "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Few are the early settlers who cannot recall some deed of kindness rendered them by the departed nor were those lacking now who bowed at the bier of this kindly pioneer lady, and gratefully remembered how she often labored for those she could assist. Those who knew her for so many years are well aware of her many virtues. They are friends who extend the hand of sympathy in this great grief to those who were her consolation and care that she could enjoy the happiness of a peaceful old age. We who have in poignant grief turned back to the calls of life can sincerely sympathize with those whose hearts are rent with the woe of parting. We kneel in spirit in the vestibule of eternity while firm hope for the eternal life may see the sun of hope an eternal vision beyond the shadowy veil of eternity. Mary Kinley was born in County Down, Ireland, August 15, 1824, and came to America in 1847, living in New York until 1848. On September 19, 1848, she was united in marriage to Patrick Morgan, which took place in St. James church in New York City, moving a short time thereafter to Dubuque, Iowa, at which time there was but one brick house in Dubuque, and which they occupied until they settled on a farm in Whitewater township, Dubuque county, where they resided until 1875 when they moved with their family to Carroll. Her husband, Patrick Morgan, preceded her nearly twenty-four years ago. To this union were born six sons and two daughters, one of the sons preceded her thirty-two years ago. The following survive and were present at the funeral: Daniel, of this city; John, of Mitchell, South Dakota; J.J., of Portland, Oregon; H.B., of Carroll; Charles M., Mary and Ellen, who reside at home. Grandmother Morgan also raised and tenderly cared for Fred V. Wells whom she loved as dearly as one of her own children and he in return rendered her the affection of a loving son. She is survived by one sister, twenty-two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The sons acted as pall bearers.
