HISTORY OF MILLS COUNTY, IOWA, Pager 168 & 169 , submitted by Linda Clay Marshall – ANDREW J. BOSTON – Andrew J. Boston was born January 31, 1831 in Versales, Woodford County, Kentucky. In later years he was affectionately known as "Uncle Andy." In 1847 he moved to Clay County, Missouri, and in 1854 he married Martha Elizabeth Dunlap, who was 15 years old at the time. She was born March 27, 1839 at Liberty, Clay County, Missouri. Their oldest child was born in the same house where Martha was born around 1855. The following year, 1856, they came to Mills County with her family and lived there one year before moving to Kansas where they took a claim. They later sold these rights and returned to Missouri. Mr. Dunlap gave them 100 acres northwest of Malvern in later years and the land is still owned by Follett descendants. The house on the Boston farm burned around 1908, and they moved into Malvern. A. J. and Martha had nine children: Greenwood Collier, Walter, Harry, Martha Alice (Mrs. John H. Rimel), Ida Irene who died July 23, 1883 at the age of 2, John J. who died May 9, 1864 at the age of 3 and was the youngest child, Laura I., (Mrs. William H. Burres), Maggie (Mrs. Will H. Wearin), and J. R. known as Rube.
