Ida was born January 18, 1922 in Atchison, Kansas, a daughter of Elmer H. and Laura B. (Lashley) Sowers, the last of six children. She grew up in Atchison and graduated from Atchison High School. Ida married Robert Nance and to this union 3 children were born. They later divorced. She married William Muncie in 1953 and they had a daughter. Mr. Muncie preceded Ida in death in 1980. Muncie, 94, of Girard, Kansas, died at 11:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in the Medicalodge of Girard. Ida was born January 18, 1922 in Atchison, Kansas, a daughter of Elmer H. and Laura B. (Lashley) Sowers, the last of six children. She grew up in Atchison and graduated from Atchison High School. Ida married Robert Nance and to this union 3 children were born. They later divorced. She married William Muncie in 1953 and they had a daughter. Mr. Muncie preceded Ida in death in 1980. Ida moved to Corning, Kansas in 1959 and she worked for her brother at Paul’s Hy-Klas Grocery Store. She enjoyed her family, sewing, painting, arts and crafts, flowers, gardening, and rock collecting. Ida was a member of the United Methodist Church and the K-State Homemakers Unit, both in Corning. She was a member for over 50 years of the Post #37 of the Corning American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a 37 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Goff, Kansas. Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia L. Wentz, and her husband, Marvin, of Girard; son, Robert Nance of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Ida was preceded in death by a son, Larry Nance; a daughter, Eva Meyer; a grandson, Tim Meyer. No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Atchison. **********************************************
