Services were Thursday, May 16, at Union Creek Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. Steven Larson officiating. Organist was Donna Swanson. Burial was at Union Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Ira Hultgren was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Yankton, SD, the daughter of James and Rena (Olson) Sorensen. She graduated from Maskell, (NE) High School in 1934 as valedictorian. She married Kenneth Hultgren on Jan. 5, 1944, at Mayflower Congregational Church in Sioux City. She was employed as a school bus driver with the Akron school for 18 years, retiring in 1976. The couple wintered in Arizona for 25 years. She was a member of Union Creek Lutheran Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, a bridge club and a dinner club. In her free time, she loved to play bridge, dance and golf. Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Paul and Ruth of Madison, SD; a brother, Robert Sorensen of Sioux City; a grandson and his wife, Chad and Kari of Sioux Falls; a granddaughter, Melissa of Sioux Falls; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents' a brother, Lyle Sorensen; and a sister, Viola Hoflund.
