Description	:	Kenneth Hultgren Kenneth E. Hultgren, 90, of Madison, SD, formally of Akron passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Madison Community Hospital in Madison. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Union Creek Lutheran Church, rural Akron, with Rev. Steven Larson officiating. Burial will be in Union Creek Cemetery. Hultgren, 90, of Madison, SD, formally of Akron passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Madison Community Hospital in Madison. Kenneth was born April 13, 1914, to Elmer and Adina (Ericson) Hultgren. He attended West Union School and graduated from Akron High School in 1932. On January 5, 1944 he married Ira Sorensen in Sioux City. He farmed in Union County and due to illness moved to Akron where he was employed by the Akron School District as a bus driver and mechanic until he retired in 1976. After his retirement, the couple enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. His wife preceded him in death on May 14, 2002. In January of 2004, he moved to Heritage Assisted Living in Madison. He participated in many activities there and had especially enjoyed music and playing his saxophone, which his father gave him at age 14. Kenneth was a lifelong member of the Union Creek Lutheran Church where he served on the church board and served on the cemetery board. He also served on the board of directors of the local Farmers Coop. Survivors include one son and his wife, Paul and Ruth Hultgren of Madison; one grandson, Chad Hultgren and his wife Kari; one granddaughter, Melissa Hultgren, all of Sioux Falls; one sister, Marie Heeren of Akron; a sister-in-law, June Hultgren of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Earl, and a sister, Marian.
