The following provided by Find a Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 30, Dec. 1959 Mrs. Irene G. Arnold Passed Wednesday Mrs. Irene G. Arnold, a resident of Chouteau county for the past 42 years, passed away at the St. Clare hospital in Fort Benton last Wednesday evening. Mrs. Arnold had been in poor health for the past year and a half and had been hospitalized for some time past. Irene G. McClary was born March 31, 1872, at Wolf Island, Canada. She was united in marriage to Eugene C. Arnold Nov. 30, 1893, at Camp Mills, N. Y., where they resided until coming to Montana in 1910 and homesteading 25 miles north of Roundup. The family moved to Big Sandy in 1917, where Mr. Arnold operated an ice and dairy business for a number of years, and was employed by the Great Northern there. For a good many years he managed an orchestra and organized a "Hill Billy" band that was booked for two or three years at the Chouteau county fair and also played the Great Falls fair for a couple of years. Mr. Arnold passed away in July 1942. Since that time Mrs. Arnold has made her home in Fort Benton with her daughter, Mrs. Edward Harris. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Morris. Mrs. Arnold was the last of 12 children in her immediate family. For a good many years she has spent doing fancy work, which she always enjoyed. She was a charter member, past matron and life member of the Bearpaw Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of American Legion Auxiliary at Big Sandy, and took active part in both organizations while living in Big Sandy and later after coming here. She was loved and respected by all who knew her and her passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends throughout this county. She is survived by five children: Roy B. Arnold, Boise, Idaho; Irma M. Harris, Fort Benton; Bessie A. Warren, Ulm; Eugene C. Arnold, Great Falls; and Irene N. Riggs, Conrad; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the Benton Funeral Home chapel on Monday afternoon, with Rev. Lloyd W. Hanley, pastor of the Christian church, officiating. The remains were taken to Big Sandy for interment in the family plot there.
