She graduated from Pleasant Lawn Consolidated High School and enrolled in certified nursing assistant training at Burlington. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also was a member of James Harland Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, New London Senior Citizens Club, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and New London VFW Auxiliary Post 7641. Survivors include two sons, Virgil Cooper Jr. of Bluffton, S.C., and Gary Cooper of McLeansville, N.C.; one brother, Jesse Linch of Madras, Ore.; and two sisters, Wilma Schellhase of West Des Moines and Lee Marsh of Rockford, Ill. A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Cooper will be at 11 a.m. May 16, in Forest Home Cemetery at Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Memorials have been established for National Alzheimer's Organization and New London Methodist Church.
