Read More	The Malvern Leader Malvern, Iowa Thursday, Dec 8, 1932, Pg 1 Randolph Pioneer Died November 30 Isaac Jacob Bliss, whose death occurred Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the family home in Kansas City, was one of the pioneer residents of Randolph. His father, Louis A. Bliss, as a carpenter helped to build the first houses in the newly formed village. Jacob Bliss, who was born in Nemaha county, Kan., Nov 18, 1859, came into Iowa with his parents when he was a lad of sixteen and lived at Bedford until the family came to Randolph in 1880. He and Dora Livingston were united in marriage in Randolph by Justice of the Peace George Jay, on July 4, 1880, and probably were the first couple to be married in the village. For more than a half century, Mr. and Mrs. Bliss have journeyed the path of life together. Last July marked their fifty-second anniversary. Five children were born to them. William Albert of Des Moines, J. Austin of Sidney, Mrs. Herbert W. Bivins of Kansas City, and Mrs. Earl Williams of Mt. Vernon, Washington. Funeral services were held in Gates Chapel, Kansas City, on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. The body arrived in Randolph Friday and was taken to the home of the brother, Robert Bliss. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Peter Jacobs of Shenandoah, assisted by Rev. R. C. Buchanan of the Methodist church and Rev. Mr. Gilbert of the Presbyterian church. The church quartet sang three hymns with Miss Lola Buchanan as pianist. The singers were Ben Brannian, Mrs. H. V. Dodd, Mrs. Glenn Thomas, and Gerald Buchanan. Those who were in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Lou Wederquist and Mrs. Kenneth Shrum. The casket bearers were L. L. Vanatta, J. C. Vanatta, Ollie Driscoll, Lon Baker, Charles Sexton, Royce Wederquist. Mr. Bliss was a fine Christian character, greatly beloved by the church of which he was a member, the Methodist Episcopal, by his family, by his neighbors, and friends. He was kind-hearted, thoughtful, considerate, helpful. All who knew him admired him and the fine qualities that characterized his life. The wife, three sons, two daughters, a brother, Robert of Randolph, two sisters Mrs. Mary Johnston, Randolph, and Mrs. Clarence Smith Menlo Park, Calif., twenty grandchildren, and four great grandchildren mourn his death.
