He was born at Galva, Ill., Sept. 14, 1870, and died at his home near Pawnee City Feb. 19, 1947. In 1885 the family moved from Toulon, Ill., to a farm near DuBois, and in 1887 they moved to a farm they purchased along the east side of West Branch precinct. He was married to Lorena G. Miser of Annapolis, Ohio, in 1902, who, with the following children, survive: Nellie of Greybull, Wyo., Mary of Manhattan, Kan., George of Pawnee City, and Alice of Olivet, Mich., a daughter-in-law, Gertrude, and little granddaughter, Janice Lorene. He also leaves one brother, Robert R. of Salt Lake City, Utah, a sister, Mrs. Ella Bruch of Genoa, Colo., and a number of nephews and nieces, many of who regarded "Uncle Zene" almost as an elder brother and comrade. In 1914 he moved to the place on which he lived until his death. His father died when he was but an infant and he was reared in a Christian home by a loyal and devout mother. He never forgot her teachings and example. In his youth he became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Fletcher loved the simple things of life and was deeply attached to his home, always ready and willing to share it with others. He had a happy disposition and he loved to sing. When he lifted his voice in psalms and hymns one could feel he was giving praise and thanksgiving to his Heavenly Father. During the long days and nights of pain when human aid seemed to avail not, he would pray to the good Lord to ease the suffering and he would say his prayers were answered. A kind and loving husband and father, a just and conscientious man, a good neighbor and citizen has gone to his reward after many weeks and months of pain, suffering and anguish. May we cherish his memory. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Pawnee City, conducted by Rev. Harry Heinecke, and interment was in the Pawnee City Cemetery.
