Description	:	Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed church for Chris Jensen who died Sunday. Burial was made in the Morgan cemetery. Rev. A.F. Rinne read the following obit: Christian Jensen, the second youngest son of John C. Jensen and Elizabeth Nee Peterson, was born at Davenport, Iowa on January 15,1874 and departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 1949 at his home in Schleswig, Iowa. Rinne read the following obit: Christian Jensen, the second youngest son of John C. Jensen and Elizabeth Nee Peterson, was born at Davenport, Iowa on January 15,1874 and departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 1949 at his home in Schleswig, Iowa. He reached the age of 75 years, 8 months and 10 days. At the age of six weeks, he was brought with the family to this community where they settled on the farm know as the Jensen place one mile south and one and one-half mile west of Schleswig. He grew up with the community and saw it change from plowed prarie, to home and business places. On May the 6th, 1896 he was united in marriage to Mary Teut by the Rev. A. Amstein of Charter Oak. Four sons were born to this union. Mr and Mrs Jensen farmed for 27 years south-west of Schleswig. In 1922, they moved into town to make their home. They were privileged to spend 53 years of wedded life together. Mr. Jensen was baptized and confirmed by Rev. E. Hansen of Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church and was a member of the church at the time of his death. He served several terms as school director in Morgan Twp. and also as a member of the City Council. He enjoyed going to the farm, but spent most of his time around his hime this past year. It was interesting to hear him tell some of the experiences of the open praries. Until this past summer he enjoyed fairly good health and was forced to spend most of the past month in bed. His wife devotedly cared for him during his illness. Mr. Jensen was the last surviving member of his family, consisting of the following members; John, Jacob, Wm., Henry, Zena, Mrs. John Peters, Bertha, Mrs Claus Rusch, Katherine, Mrs. Wm. Stamp and Lizzie, Mrs. Jochim Hansen. He was preceded ind eath by his youngest son, Walter, last July 6. He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, three sons, Alfred and Arnold of Schleswig, and Harvey of Denison, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, four daughters-in-law and many other relatives and friends.
