Description	:	James E. Six was born November 18, 1933 in Fairfield, Iowa, a son of Everett and Mildred Myers Six. He married Ines Marie Stanbrough on December 1, 1952. Jim and Ines were blessed with a son, Randy, and three daughters; Sandy, Debbie and Amy Sue. Life was good in Iowa, but in the summer of 1968, the Six family moved to Illinois. They settled in Pekin, Illinois. Jim worked as a foreman for Caterpillar Tractor Company's Mapleton Plant. Ines kept house. The kids went to school. All was good. Life was good in Iowa, but in the summer of 1968, the Six family moved to Illinois. They settled in Pekin, Illinois. Jim worked as a foreman for Caterpillar Tractor Company's Mapleton Plant. Ines kept house. The kids went to school. All was good. On September 11, 1971, Jim got off work, second shift, he headed home to start his Labor Day weekend festivities. His in-laws had spent a few days with his family. Now his family was going to take them back to Iowa and spend the rest of the weekend with them. When Jim got home, the car was rapidly packed and ready to go. Jim, his mother in-law, father in-law, Randy, Debbie, Amy Sue, Ines and the family poodle all got in the car and they hit the road. Jim was accustomed to working second shift and staying up late. The trip would only take a little more than three hours and the rest of the family could sleep on the way. Didn't bother Jim a bit. The Six family was about half way to Ollie when it happened. About eight miles east of Burlington, Iowa, a little place called Gladstone. Jim and family were driving west on Rt. 34 coming into a 60 degree curve. There was another car going east on 34 that did not negotiate the curve and hit the Six vehicle head on. The only survivors of the accident were Ines, who was badly injured and spent weeks in the hospital in Burlington and the family poodle who escaped with injury.
