Description	:	James Edward Ormesher (Jim) was born August 22, 1916 in Cherry County Nebraska. He grew to manhood on his father, Ted Ormesher's ranch. His mother, Martha Thomas Ormesher, gave him a life-long love for learning that he passed to his children and grand-children. Jim attended Valentine High School in Valentine, Nebraska. He grew to manhood on his father, Ted Ormesher's ranch. His mother, Martha Thomas Ormesher, gave him a life-long love for learning that he passed to his children and grand-children. Jim attended Valentine High School in Valentine, Nebraska. After graduation in 1935, he returned to ranching. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Valentine. On March 6, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa, he married Helen Eyla Lydiatt. They were friends and loving companions until his death an April 22, 1997. Jim and Helen had two children, Janice Corine and James Russell (Rusty). He was always interested in agriculture and young people. This interest prompted him, with the encouragement of County Agent Meed, to start the first 4-H club in Cherry County. He was the leader of this club until the responsibilities of his ranch required his resignation. He always remained an enthusiastic supporter of 4-H and helped his own children with several successful calf projects. He devoted much time to the school board of his district and for several years served on the Cherry County Fair Board. With a keen eye for good livestock and an interest in new and innovative farming methods, Jim was able to build a fine herd of cattle and horses for his ranch. He was one of the first farmers in the area to use pivot irrigation systems on his dry land farm. He was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with his friends and neighbors. Jim was a Past Worshipful Master of Wood Lake Masonic Lodge #221, Past High Priest of the Royal Arch and Past Master of the Shiloh Council. He served as the Worthy Patron and Associate Patron of Wood Lake Order of Eastern Star for several years. He wrote " The greatest privelege that can be bestowed on anyone, anywhere, anytime is to be born, with a life, able to hear, to feel, to move, to think." In 1988, Jim and Helen retired to Wood Lake. After several years of ill health, Jim passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. As a good neighbor and friend, a wonderful husband and a kind and loving father, he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Helen, of Wood Lake, his daughter Janice C. Watts of Tulsa, Oklahoma his son and son's wife, J. Russell Ormesher and Kathie Ormesher of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren Mark and Sue Watts of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brad and Jennifer Ormesher of Dallas, Texas, Beth and Adam Piotrowski of Talahassee, Florida, Mary Jo Watts of New Brunswick, New Jersey and Ryan Ormesher of Dallas, Texas; and four great grandchildren, Jillian Watts, Harrison Ormesher, Mitch Ormesher and James Piotrowski. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Nelson and Alice Coleman, and several neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held on April 25 at the Wood Lake Union Church. Graveside services and burial were at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Nebraska.
