Description	:	Ted Ormesher, the fifth and youngest child of Edward and Margaret Ormesher, was born near Valentine on December 28, 1884, and passed away May 23, 1970 at the age of 85 years. His parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers had come from England in 1883, setttling in Lincoln, Nebraska. Read More	Ted Ormesher, the fifth and youngest child of Edward and Margaret Ormesher, was born near Valentine on December 28, 1884, and passed away May 23, 1970 at the age of 85 years. His parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers had come from England in 1883, setttling in Lincoln, Nebraska. A year later they came to Cherry County settling on the Schlagel Creek near the Niobrara River south of Valentine. There, Ted was born in 1884. He received the honor of being this area's oldest native born son during Valentine's Diamond Jubilee celebration in 1958. He spent his lifetime in this area building up an outstanding cattle ranch. Beside being a capable stockman, Mr. Ormesher was even better known as a true friend, and a loving father and grandfather. He was a member of the Minnekadusa Masonic Lodge No. 192 of Valentine. He homesteaded on the Schlagel Creek and resided in the Schlagel precinct until he moved to his ranch 18 miles south east of Valentine in 1920. He retired from ranching in 1957, enjoying the winters in California. Even though he enjoyed traveling, he found no place he liked better than the Sandhills. The past year he resided in the Pineview Manor Home in Valentine. He was married to Abby Peters December 28, 1910. She passed away the following year. On November 26, 1913, he married Martha C. Thomas and to this union 8 children were born. She departed this life November 3, 1939. Preceeding him in death were his two wives, 2 infant sons and an infant daughter, his parents, 2 brothers, John and Henry and 2 sisters, Margaret Ormesher and Alice Ormesher Clark/ West. He is survived by two sons, James and Bruce both of Valentine, three daughters, Mrs. Homer ( Margery) Kerns of Denver Colorado, Mrs. Alvin (Alice) Coleman of Sacramento, California and Mrs. Lowell ( Doris) Nelson of North Platte, Nebraska, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 nephews, one neice. other relatives and a host of friends. Services were held in the Methodist Church, Valentine, May 25 with Reverend Green in charge. the Masonic Lodge conducted a graveside service at Mount Hope Cemetery. Among relatives here for last rites for Ted Ormesher were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Coleman of Sacramento, California, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kerns of Denver, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Nelson and family of North Platte, Nebraska, Mr. J. Russell Ormesher (Rusty) and wife Kathie of Dallas, Texas , Mr. Teddy Ormesher and wife Susan of Omaha, Nebraska and Mr. Steven Hornung and wife Deloris Ormesher Hornung of Lincoln, Nebraska.
