Read More	James Garnet Miller Died At Elsie Saturday, June 17; Lived in County Since 1908 James Garnet Miller was born August 6, 1860, at Russell Springs, Kentucky, and departed this life June 17, 1944, at his home in Elsie, Nebr., age 83 years, ten months, and eleven days. When a young man he moved to Gallatin, Missouri, and there was united in marriage to Lettie F. Roberts on January 15, 1885. To this union was born eleven children, two of which preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Lettie, seven daughters and two sons, Ross and Loren of Salem, Ore., Mrs. Ethel Brodbeck, Mrs. Alma Baker of Grant, Mrs. Lydia Knight of Wray, Colorado, Mrs. Eva Terry, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Mrs. Rose Terry, Mrs. Vernon Carothers of Elsie, and Mrs. Mildred Marchett of Phoenix, Arizona. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Halliday, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Nancy Miller, of Osawattama, Kansas. In 1889 he, with his wife, was baptized into the Church of Christ and for the past fifty-five years has been a faithful worker not missing a Sunday service unless hindered by illness. For many years he served as elder in various congregations in Gallatin, Mo., and in southwestern Nebraska. In 1908, he, with his family, moved to Nebraska and lived near Elsie until 1933, when he moved into town where he spent the remainder of his days. Although in failing health for the past four years, he never complained, but was ever patient and cheerful, and was a kind and loving husband and father and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
