Neal James Harry neal died at his home in Glasco, Kansas, at 12:30 a.m. February 27, 1914, after an illness of six days. He was born August 10, 1834, in Champaign county, Ohio. His age was 79 years, 6 months and 17 days. He lived at home with his parents until he was nineteen years of age when he went to the shops to learn a trade, that of a machinist. In 1858 he went to Indiana, where he met and married Sarah J. Pitzer in 1863. They lived in Indiana until 1870, when they moved to Kansas and located at Glasco in the spring of 1871. To them were born three children, two of them survive him, P.R. Neal of Lawrence, Kansas, and Mrs. Clara Baker of Glasco, Kansas. Olive E. Neal, their youngest daughter, died Dec. 3, 1891, at the age of seventeen years. Out of a family of eleven children he is survived by one sister in Springfield, Ohio, and a foster brother in Urbana, Ohio. He was a member of the M.E. church in Glasco, having joined that denomination in Indiana in 1867. He was a kind husband, a loving father, a good neighbor and a consistent Christian.
