Pending any clarification to the contrary, will use the F/A/G location "Greene county" in Pennsylvania for the birth location; the obituaries in the Fairfield Daily Journal sometimes used phonetic spellings, so am assuming that "Green" and "Greene" in this case are one and the same. ------------------- Fairfield Daily Journal Saturday June 1, 1918 Pg. 2 Col. 3 LIFE OF JAMES HEDGE James Hedge was born in Green county (sic), Pennsylvania, December 23, 1833 (sic), and died May 29th, 1918, being at the time of his death 84 years, 5 months and 6 days of age. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Hawkens (sic. Hawkins), in January, 1861,, she preceeding him in death July 3rd, 1899 (sic. this is in error, she died July 3, 1901). To this union were born six children, Ellsworth of Fairfield, Neb., McClelland, of Morris, Mont., William of Fairfield, Ia., Frank of Ticton, Wash., Mrs. Joseph Werner of Fairfield, Ia., and Boyd E. of Haglar, Neb., all of whom survive him. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church for more than half a century. The funeral services were held at the F. D. Kerrick Parlors Friday morning at 10:30, being conducted by Rev. P. S. Apfel of the Methodist Circuit church.
