Barnett, aged 77 of near Eddyville died at the St Joseph's hospital in Ottumwa early Sunday morning, December 8, 1946, where he had been a patient for almost two weeks. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barnett. The parents, two brothers and sister have preceded him in death. Mr. Barnett had spent practically all his life in that vicinity. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barnett. The parents, two brothers and sister have preceded him in death. Mr. Barnett had spent practically all his life in that vicinity. During his sickness he was patient, always appreciative of what was being done for him. He was an active worker in the Christian church and held the office of an Elder. He was always interested in the welfare of others, ready to lend a willing hand or give a word of comfort and cheer to the less fortunate. In his death the church and community have lost a true friend. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Spencer Barnett and a brother G.W. Barnett of Eddyville.
