Read More	James Smith Todd Passed Away Here Last Friday Captain James Smiith Todd, a native of Holland's Island who had been making his home in this city for a number of years, passed away at his home on Maryland avenue at 4:00 p. m. on Frday last. He had been in declining health for some time and death was due to complications. Born eighty-six years ago on Holland's Island where he lived until twenty-three years ago when he moved to Crisfield, he was the son of the late George Todd and Mary Price Todd, pioneer and direct descendants of Scottish ancestors. He came from a long line of fine and hearty men and inherited much from them. Captain Jim Smith, as he was almost universally called, was an expert, waterman, having followed that trade practically all his life until he retired from active work twelve years ago. He took great pride in his boat and equipment which he always kept neat and polished and in first class condition. Along the waterfront, where he was so well known by fellow workmen who earned their living on the waters of the Chesapeake, as well as throughout Crisfield and Somerset county, he had a host of friends, both young and old, who loved him dearly. His was of an honest and industrious nature and he was a man of spotless character, always living an upright, Christian life. He was very active in the various phases of church work on Holland's Island. The deceased was twice married. His first wife was the former Miss Harriet L. Parks and the wife of his second marriage, who survives, was Mrs. Sadie Todd. Besides his widow he is survived by eight children; four sons, James Edward Todd, Wells Todd, Lloyd Todd and George Luther Todd and four daughters, Mrs. Mollie Somers, Mrs. Maggie Somers, Mrs. Eunice Griffith and Mrs. Mildred Somers, all residents of Crisfield. One brother, Mr. Carroll Todd, also survives. Funeral services which were largely attended, were held from his late home on Maryland avenue Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. J. R. Bicking, pastor of the Immanuel M. E. Church, in charge of the final rites. Pall-bearers were Ira Todd, Clarence Todd, George Todd, George Stevenson, Major Todd, Lloyd Parks.
