They were the parents of four children: William James, Thomas B, Harriet B, and Ida J. March 21, 1912 - Carroll Sentinel - The sudden and unexpected death if James Wills at the home in this city Tuesday morning cast a pall of grief over the community. It seems that he was enjoying the best of health and on the morning in which he died he had attended to his chores as usual. He was always of a cheerful and optimistic nature and especially, on this morning was he in good spirits. He came to the house and while at breakfast he suddenly complained of a severe and unbearable pain in his head. Immediately afterwards he lapsed into a unconsciousness from which he never rallied sufficiently to speak. All that medical aid could do for him was done but about an hour and a half later his spirit had taken flight and this beloved and honored citizen was no more. James Wills was born in Cornwall, England, February 12, 1847. When still a baby he came with his parents to the United States and they located in Grant county, Wisconsin. In this neighborhood he grew to manhood and in 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Bowden. In 1880 they moved to Carroll county and located in Washington township where they resided for many years. In 1897 they moved to the place near Beulah church and in which they built an excellent home and there they lived until last fall when they purchased the elegant G.W. Thomas residence on West street and moved to this city. Four children were born to the union: Wm. J., residing near Halbur; Thomas B., residing on a farm north of Carroll; Mrs. Walter Rogers living near Beulah; and Miss Ida at home. These and the grieveing wife survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He was one of the substantial citizens of the county and during his short residence in this city had made many friends who sincerely grieve at his untimely demise. The funeral services will be held from the M.E. church this afternoon at 2 o'clock and Rev. Dudley will conduct the services after which the remains will be laid to their final resting place in the Carroll cemetery. The bereaved family has the sincerest sympathy of the community.
