The year of marriage was sent by Korey Jackson (47360691) ******************** Chapman Advertiser, Dec. 5, 1918, page 1: Mrs. Jennie Messmore Burns was born at Uniontown, Pa. January 9, 1851 and passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Warren Shepard in Chapman, Kansas on Friday November 29, 1918 after an illness of about two weeks. She removed from Shelbius, Mo. to Glasco, Kansas in 1884 and remained there for several years. For the past several years she has made her home with her daughter here at whose home she passed away. She leaves to mourn her passing away from this life two daughters, Mrs. Warren Shepard and Mrs. E.F. Halbert both of Chapman, Kansas and two sons, Alva S. who resides here and Lieut. E.N. Moxley who is with the colors in France. Besides these she leaves relatives and friends here and at places of former residence who sorrow because of her death. Early in life she united with the Methodist church and remained with it until coming to Chapman where she joined the Lutheran church. All of her life has been characterized by Christian devotion and cheerfulness. Her last days were examples of optimism and faith and her cheerful patient disposition was felt by all who came in contact with her. Those who knew her best loved her best and yet she was beloved by all because of her life and character. She will be sadly missed but her life will live in hearts and memory because of her loving devotion and care here. The body was laid away in its last resting place in the Glasco, Kansas cemetery on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 1, 1918.
