Mrs. Jane Pine, mother of Supervisor Samuel C. Pine, who died early yesterday morning at her home in Rincon, will be buried in the city cemetery here Saturday, the final obsequies to be from the Mark B. Shaw undertaking parlors at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Pine was a native of Buffalo, N. Y., and was 77 years of age. Her maiden name was Jane Morrison. Joining the westward tide with her parents, in 1885, she met Samuel C. Pine Sr. in Utah, and was there married to him. They came on to California and Mr. Pine became one of the best known of the pioneer residents of this valley. They resided in various parts of it, but in 1867 went to Rincon, where they took up 160 acres of the fine land adjoining the Chino grant, and that became the family residence from that time until now. Mr. Pine died in 1897, survived by his widow and their five sons, Samuel C. Jr., Edward, Edwin, Myron and Dudley, all of their sons surviving their mother and having their homes in the vicinity of that occupied so long by their parents. As noted in THE SUN yesterday morning, Mrs. Pine had been in failing health for more than a year, and for some days members of her family had known that her recovery was hardly to be looked for. The end came early yesterday morning, and on Saturday afternoon her sons and the long time friends of the family will lay her to rest by the side of her husband, who preceded her into the life beyond.
