Crooks, was born on a farm in Lucas county, Iowa, June 7, 1891 and died at the home of his daughter in Des Moines on Aug. 2, 1954 at the age of 63 years, one month and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William H. and James W. of New Virginia and Jesse of Lucas county, also one sister, Mrs. Clarey Eubank of Winnebago, Minn. On July 24, 1916, he was united in marriage to Laura Haltom. To this union were born two daughters, Leota Neal of Des Moines and Leta Nicholson of Lucas county. They also reared in their home from infancy, a grandson, Marion Nicholson, whom they loved as their own. He leaves to mourn his departure his loving wife, Laura, who has cared for him so dearly through all his many years of sickness. Also his two daughters, a granddaughter, Marilyn Nicholson, a grandson, Marion Nicholson and a son-in-law, Marvin Nicholson, and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Lowell and Viola Killen of Chariton, two brothers, Clark Crooks of Osborn, Idaho and Floyd Crooks of Winnebago, Minn.
