Crooks, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, on Jan. 29, 1888, and passed from this life Dec. 5, 1939, in the Stroy hospital in Osceola, at the age of 51 years, 10 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Lena Elpha Kackler on Oct. 28, 1910. To this union two children were born, Wilma and Gerald. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife and daughter, Mrs. Wilma Bales and husband, and a son, Gerald Crooks and wife, and two grandchildren, Ronald Gene Bales and Ken Dee Crooks, all of Norwood. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Dennie Lovell, of Norwood; Mrs. Viola Killen, of New Virginia; and four brothers, Clark Crooks, of South Dakota; Floyd Crooks of Minnesota; Willie Crooks of New Virginia; and Jasper Crooks, of Woodburn. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister and one brother. Besides his family and relatives he leaves a host of friends and neighbors who will miss him and his kind, pleasant face. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 7, at two o'clock, at the United Brethren church in Norwood, conducted by Rev. Carl Smith, of Lovilia, and burial was in the Norwood cemetery.
