Rieck The sudden death of Mrs. Jeanette Rieck at her home at Lewellen Saturday morning came as a distressing shock to her numerous friends and her immediate relatives. We are informed that she had been ill some of the time in recent months, but her condition had not been considered at all critical. Apparently death came to her in her sleep, no indication of her having made any move after retiring for the night. She was found the next day by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Chet Rieck who went to see her at about ten o'clock in the morning. It was her habit of sleeping late so no one had called for her earlier. Jeanette Wilson Roberts, the daughter of Mary and Robert Roberts was born in Primrose, Nebraska, May 25th, 1883 [editor: headstone reads 1882], and died at her home in Lewellen July 2, 1955, at the age of 72 years, one month and eight days. She lived in and around Primrose, Nebraska all of her early life. She joined and was an active member of the Presbyterian church, serving as organist and also active in the work of the choir and of the young people's organizations. She was received into membership of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen, by adult confirmation, on December 25, 1954, and has attended regularly whenever her health has permitted. On January 20, 1909, she was united in marriage to Emil W. Rieck in Cozad, Nebraska, where they made their home for several years. In 1912 they moved to Lewellen and since that time most of her life has been spent on the farm just west of that town. Mrs. Rieck is survived by five children: Donald of Tahoe City, California; Dorothy (Mrs. Paul Brown) of Alteadena, California; Mrs. Edna Brassfield and Chester Rieck of Lewellen; and Mrs. Arlene Huwaldt of Oshkosh. Her husband and twin son and daughter preceded her in death. Other survivors include five brothers: John and George of North Platte, Frank of Portland, Oregon, Robert of Oakland, California and O. R. of Oshkosh. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Fourteen grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Wright Funeral home chapel in this city and burial was in the Ash Hollow cemetery beside her husband.
