Palmeter of west of South Bend, who has been ill for the past more than a year with both cancer and inward goiter, and who has undergone a number of operations and has borne with great fortitude the suffering and has been cared for by the devoted husband and nurses hoping almost against hope, that her health might be won back, died just after midnight on Wednesday morning of last week. There were there at the time of her departure, the husband, their daughter Mrs. Clyde Fitzpatrick, of Weeping Water and her only sister, Mrs. Belle Babbitt of Cedar Bluffs. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at the home and was conducted by the Rev. Peter Van Fleet of the Methodist church of University Place, and former pastor of Mrs. Palmeter. Mrs Palmeter was formerly Miss Jennie Vestal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Vestal, now deceased, and also a sister of Mrs. Gustav Rhode, who was employed with the former News-Herald of Plattsmouth, but who are both long since passed away. Following the funeral at the home the cortege went to Plattsmouth, where the interment was made at Oak Hill cemetery in the family lot. Mrs Palmeter was a most excellent woman ever seeking where she could do a kindly act for one in distress and to minister to all who were in need. -- Plattsmouth Journal"
