This death was as unexpected as sad. Few knew that she was sick, and none thought dangerously so until Tuesday. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at three o’clock at the Baptist Church, Rev. Graves officiating. The pall bearers were Chas Armstrong, Joseph Godding, Frank Reif, George Dann, Ray Holt, and James Fairhead. The business houses were closed during the funeral, and a very large concourse of friends attended the services, and followed the remains to Park Hill Cemetery. Miss Jennie McFarland was born in Monroe county, Ohio, July 20th, 1873, her parents moved to Nebraska in October 1873, she has grown from childhood to womanhood in Syracuse. She was married to James Eaton Jr. on June 2nd 1897. A bright and loving woman, a true and noble wife has been called hence. In the first bloom of womanhood, a bride of but a few years, while life was one glorious holiday and the future full of promise, death has reached out his hand and love, and light, and life, have ceased. Her heart broken husband calls her name in vain for she is deaf to the voice of love; mother, father, and brothers weep over her, but she heeds them not. Weeping friends, with breaking hearts, gaze for the last time, and say a last farewell, but she knows it not. The King of King’s has claimed her for his own and though we know not if she gains or loses, if death is the end of life, the sleep from which none awake, or the glorious dawn of another life, and another world. But this we know that no words can bring comfort to the sorrowing husband, no voice ease the aching of her mother’s heart.
