The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday May 2, 1991; pg.2 ===== Jens Peter Nielsen, son of Viggo Nielsen and Dorthea Christine (Nymann) Nielsen was born October 21, 1917, on a farm near Oak, Nebraska and passed away April 29, 1991, in the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 8 days. "Pete," as he was lovingly known by family and friends, attended Grand Prairie country school northwest of Nelson. On January 28, 1936, in Mankato, Kansas, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Yeteive Gharring. This union was blessed with four children. Pete and Yeteive lived in Superior for 35 years, and also around the Nelson and Cadams area. He was owner and operator of Nielsen's Conoco for many many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Honorary member of Danish Brotherhood, a member of Masonic Lodge #121, A.M. & F.M. of which he was Past Master, a member of Eastern Star, Worthy Patron, Past Assistant Grand Custodian, a member of the Nebraska York Rite of Freemasonry, a member of Tehema Temple Shrine, Superior County Club, and a past member of the Superior Elks Lodge. Pete enjoyed fishing, golfing, working in his yard and helping neighbors with their yard work, and he loved his work with the Masonic Lodges. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Victor Nielsen. He is survived by his wife Yeteive; his four children, Larry Nielsen and his wife Bonnie of Paige, Texas, Dorthea LaCoss of Nashville, Tennessee, Gloria Nobles of Superior, Nebraska, and Doug Nielsen and his wife Ginny of Harvard, Nebraska; two brothers, Alvin Nielsen and his wife Ruth of Ashland, Nebraska, and Denny Nielsen and his wife Nancy of Seward, Nebraska; two sisters, Christa and her husband Emil Jensen of Superior, and Rosa Ambrose of Nampa, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 1, 1991, at 2:00 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Rev. Phil Thomas officiating. Music was provided by Phil Thomas singing "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casket bearers were Ivan Gharring, Delmar Shrontz, Darold Hiatt, Earl Adamson, Elmer Rempe and Bob Noren. Masonic Lodge #121, A.M. & A.F. of Superior. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery near Superior.
