Read More	Coon Rapids Enterprise August 9, 1935 Page 1 Jerry Bower, 77, probably the oldest continuous resident of this community, died at his home here Wednesday after being bedfast only about two weeks. Mr. Bower suffered a stroke about two years ago since which time his health gradually failed. Mr. Bower was the son of early settlers in the community being born in Orange township long, before the town of Coon Rapids was thought of and when the county was a vast prairie. At the age of eleven he moved with his parents to Pleasant Valley township and five years later moved back to Orange township where he began farming with his brother Allen. On September 23, 1883, he was married to Miss Fanny Whitefield and they made their home on the farm now occupied by Arthur Bower. A good farmer and successful businessman Mr. Bower accumulated large holdings of land and in 1911 with Mrs. Bower retired and moved to Coon Rapids where Mrs. Bower died October 25, 1933. Mr. Bower was an active man both physically and mentally and took a keen interest in community affairs. Since suffering a stroke a year ago, he has been less active and now that he is gone will be greatly missed by his many friends. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Lillian Bower, a son, Arthur Bower, three grandchildren Howard, Helen and Mildred Bower, a brother, Allen Bower, a half brother in California and two half sisters in North Dakota. Funeral services will be held this Friday afternoon at the Coder Funeral Home in charge of Rev. W. F. Biggerstaff. The local Odd Fellows lodge of which he was a member, will select pall bearers from their number. Interment will be in the Coon Rapids cemetery.
