Jerusha I. Meloy, daughter of the late Mrs. Mary W. Stearns, was born at Gresham, Ore., December 18, 1857. In 1862 her father died and her mother moved to Lewis county., At the age of 15 years she became a member of the Presbyterian church of Claquato. Her faith and hope were inexhaustible, and a patient loving wife and mother will be missed by all who knew her. Her heart and hand went out to all in distress. November 26, 1874, she was married to John E. Bunker, who survives her. To this union were born nine children, three boys and six girls. They are: Mrs. Abbie Garrett of Raymond; Frank N. Bunker of Baker City, Ore.; Mrs. Julia McIntire of Agate; Mrs. Clara Ingalls of Lincoln creek; Mrs. Alice Browning of Centralia; Mrs. Lucy McCutcheon of Adna; John W. Bunker, Myrtle Bunker and Joseph L. Bunker of Eagleton. All were at her bedside with the exception of Frank. Three brothers, William Meloy of Naches, Theodore Stearns of Adna, and Joel E. Stearns of Chehalis, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Ingalls of Centralia, survive her. The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church of Centralia on Thursday, May 22, at 10 o’clock a.m. Rev. Henry W. Thompson conducted the services. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
