Congregational hymns were sung with Virginia Halderson as organist. Casketbearers were Bill Dopp, John Gibbs, Clarence McDonald, Phil Philbrook, Loren Sparks and Greg Wyatt. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. Jess Melvin Dalrymple was born April 22, 1904 to Herb and Mary Beck Dalrymple at his parent's home two miles northeast of Glasco. He died Dec. 31, 1986 at the age of 82 years, eight months and eight days at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, KS. Jess attended rural school District No. 6 (Columbia) and Simpson High Shool, graduating in 1922. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering at Milwaukee, Wisc., from 1925 to 1929. He married Evelyn H. Albrecht of Milwaukee, WI., at Belleville, KS., May 27, 1929. They made their home on the family farm southwest of Glasco where their son, Harold H. Dalrymple was born. Jess and Evelyn farmed and raised Hereford cattle. They were recognized for their conservation and farm management efforts by the Cloud County Farm Bureau. He was active in civic affairs, serving on the Cloud County Fair Board and Cloud County Cooperative Association many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spectator sports. Following Evelyn's death, Jess retired from farming and lived in Glasco. On Dec. 22, 1972 her married Opal Downey. Jess was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church over 40 years as an active participant and on the church council. His involvement with the church contributed to his spiritual growth. He was blessed with a keen mind to the end of his life. He kept a continued interest in the people of the Glasco community. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Opal of Glasco; one son, Harold H. Dalrymple and his wife, Patricia of Urbana, IL., two grandchildren, Lana Cullen and Ruth Miles; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jimmy Cullen. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; and sister, Melva Prickett. Interment was in the Glasco. The family suggests memorials to the Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. ---
