Mr. Bodeker was the son of Harm and Grace Bodeker. He was born in Wesamer, Ostfriesland, Germany, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He immigrated to the United States in the spring of 1884 and settled in Wayne township in the vicinity of Langworthy. He was the only son in a family of seven children. He was married to Kate Brokens who survives her husband. The surviving children include, John; Mrs. Herman (Grace) Engelbart, Mrs. Rhiney (Anna) Wessels, Mrs. Clarence (Clara) Herren, and Mrs. Louie (Irene) Hayen, of Amber; Mrs. Margaret Brodersen, of Wyoming; and Mrs. Louis (Caroline) Rickels of Wayne township. During his active years Mr. Bodeker was a carpenter, and also conducted a farm. Due to ill health he was compelled to retire from active work some years ago and lived in Amber.
