DIETRICH DIRKS PASSED AWAY EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING The many friends of Mrs. Dietrich Dirks will be pained to learn of her death, which occurred at her home in Langworthy yesterday morning, March 25, at 5:30 o'clock. She had been in failing health for two years, and her condition became more alarming during the past year. Two weeks ago her family realized that she was fatally ill. The maiden name of Mrs. Dirks was Gesche Margareta Bodeker. She was born January 3, 1859, at Wiesedemeer, Ostfriesland, Germany. Her parents were Harm and Greta Bodeker. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith, and later was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Reepsholt, Germany, by Rev. Gossel. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Dirks occurred June 9, 1880, and they therefor had shared the joys of married life for nearly 56 years. The family came to the United States in April, 1882 and settled on a farm in Wayne Township, where they had since resided. Mr. and Mrs. Dirks retired from active farm work and went to Langworthy 23 years ago. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1930. Mrs. Dirks is survived by her husband, Dietrich Dirks, four sons, Harm of Langworthy; Gerd of Wyoming; John of Amber; and Henry of Anamosa, and by four daughters; Friederika, the wife of Gerd Dirks of Langworthy; Greta, the wife of Will Dirks of Center Junction; Sophie, the wife of Menno Zimmerman of Olin; and Meta, the wife of William Oltmanns of Langworthy. She is also survived by 62 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren, her brother, Gerd Bodeker of Amber, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Rodick of Monticello, Mrs. Mart Rodman of Monticello and Mrs. Katharine Ireland of Wyoming. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, at 1 o'clock, at the family home in Langworthy, and at 1:30 at Zion's Lutheran church. The services will be in charge of Mrs. Dirk's pastor, Rev. John Willms. Interment will be made on the family lot adjoining the church.
