(Source: Germany Marriages) ======================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, June 30, 1932; pg. 7 Henry Gottlieb Meier was born August 16, 1851, in Holtzhausen, Westphalia, Germany. In his infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God and after having been durly instructed in the tenets of the Church of his fathers he was confirmed in the church of his home village in the year 1865. In the year 1877 the departed was united in marriage to Miss Anna Marie Ilsabein Spellmeier. Eleven children were born to this union of whom seven sons and two daughters survive their father, one son and one daughter having preceded him in death. In 1881 Mr. Meier came to this county with his small family and settled on a farm in Gage county (sic), Nebraska. Eight years later we find him on a farm in Jefferson county (sic) where he resided for five years. In 1894 he removed his family to Nuckolls county (sic) where his wife died on the 16th of March, 1920. He made his home with his children until in the year 1922, when he again entered the holy estate of matrimony, this time with Mrs. Caroline Schwarz of Beatrice, Nebraska. After his second marriage he lived in Beatrice, where he departed this life the 23d of June, after an illness of about three months. Mr. Meier reached the ripe old age of four-score years, ten months and seven days. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and nine children, a number of grand children and also great grand children. The children are: Frederic, Henry, Jr., August, Herman, Frank Ernest, Charlie, Mrs. Albert Jacobitz, and Mrs. Fred Barfknecht. Funeral services were conducted by the pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, the Rev. Chr. Bunge, last Sunday afternoon and the mortal remains of Mr. Meier were laid to rest in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, beside his first wife, where they await the Resurrection Morn.
