Mann was born in Hawkins County, Tenn, June 10, 1842. In 1859 he emigrated with his parents to Illinois, where he enlisted as a soldier in the Civil War and served three years. He came to Kansas in 1866. He joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Grand Army of the Republic, of which organizations, and the Methodist Episcopal church of this place, he was a member at the time of his death, which occurred at his home in this city December 27, 1905, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 17 days. John Mann was one of the pioneers of this section of Kansas, which has been his home ever since. His life was ever such as to win the respect, confidence and honor of his neighbors, and the Glasco community realizes that it has lost a good citizen. With the consent of relatives, the I.O.O.F. took charge and conducted the funeral according to the rites of that order. Services were held at the Methodist church with prayer by Rev. B. F. McMillen, sermon by Rev. D. R. Laport and music rendered by Misses Leta Day and Mae Hare, Mrs. C. H. Marshall, and Messrs. C. H. Marshall and Harry Soule. Interment was made in Glasco cemetery. We take this method of expressing our thanks to the many friends who so kindly gave us aid and comfort during the illness and death of our husband and father. Mrs. M. L. Mann Hattie E.
